WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (November 2, 2020) —The City of West Palm Beach will debut its first ever Spanish language newsletter, “¿Que Pasa West Palm Beach?” An initiative of the Mayor’s Office of Communications, this new, monthly publication aims to inform the City’s Spanish-speaking residents of City happenings and how they can be involved in their City government. According to the latest U.S. Census, Hispanics/Latinos make up 18.5% of the U.S. population and 24% of the City of West Palm Beach’s population of nearly 112,000. For many, Spanish is their preferred language.

“In keeping with my vision of working to create a ‘community of opportunity for all,’ this newsletter aims to ensure that our Spanish-speaking residents have the information needed to be involved, informed, and engaged,” said Mayor Keith A. James. “For many residents, Spanish is their preferred language. We look forward to expanding communication with these residents and to making their City government even more accessible.”

“¿Que Pasa West Palm Beach?” is one of several initiatives undertaken by the Mayor’s Office of Communications to expand communications with our Spanish speaking community. In January, the office debuted a redesigned website, that is translatable into many languages through the user’s browser. Additionally, the City introduced a Spanish language Facebook page: @CityofWestPalmBeachEnEspanol. Spanish-speaking residents calling City Hall may be directed to a Spanish speaker, and a growing number of the City’s published documents are also translated into Spanish.

Soon after coming into office, Mayor James appointed Jose Tagle as the City’s Hispanic Community Liaison to keep an open channel of communication between West Palm Beach Hispanics/Latinos and City Hall. ¿Que Pasa West Palm Beach? La Ciudad de WPB Lanza Boletín Mensual en Español

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (29 de noviembre de 2020) – La ciudad de West Palm Beach presentará su primer boletín informativo en español, "¿Que Pasa West Palm Beach?" Una iniciativa de la oficina de comunicaciones del alcalde, esta nueva publicación mensual tiene como objetivo informarles a los residentes de habla hispana de West Palm Beach sobre los acontecimientos de la ciudad y cómo pueden participar en su gobierno local. Según el último censo de E.U., los hispanos/latinos constituyen el 18.5% de la población del país, y el 24% de la población de la ciudad de West Palm Beach de casi 112,000. Para muchos, el español es su idioma preferido.

“De acuerdo con mi visión de crear una 'comunidad de oportunidades para todos', este boletín tiene como objetivo garantizar que nuestros residentes de habla hispana tengan la información necesaria para participar, informarse y comprometerse”, dijo el alcalde Keith A. "¿Que Pasa West Palm Beach?" es una de varias iniciativas emprendidas por la oficina de comunicaciones del alcalde para expandir las comunicaciones con nuestra comunidad hispana.
