Home MenuReport An Abandoned Vehicle
WPBPD responds to complaints received by concerned West Palm Beach residents, who like us, want to keep our City and our community beautiful.
Aside from attracting vandals, abandoned vehicles attract drug transactions, prostitution, and sometimes used by the homeless. These vehicles contain hazardous substances such as gasoline, motor oil, and other hazardous fluids, which must be properly disposed to protect our environment.
By reporting abandoned vehicles, contacting the owners of the vehicles is the first step taken by officers to avoid the vehicle being impounded. Red Tags are affixed to the vehicle, if the registered owner cannot be located, unresponsive, or no longer owns the vehicle. The owner is afforded a reasonable amount of time to move the vehicle, get it properly registered, and in proper working order.
Once the grace period has expired, and the vehicle remains abandoned, it will be impounded and entered into a database as abandoned, which allows anyone trying to report the vehicle stolen notification of its location. All impoundment fees are passed on to the rightful owner.
Reporting an abandoned vehicle is easy. Simply call the West Palm Beach Police Department non emergency number, 561-822-1900. You can remain anonymous.
