As one of the oldest fire departments in Florida, the West Palm Beach Fire Department began as neighbors helping neighbors, a group of volunteers known as the “Flagler Alerts.” In 1894, our team used hand drawn hose carts and protected 1,000 people. While our community has grown exponentially in 125 years, our tradition of exceptional service through selfless dedication continues.
Today, I’m proud we are aggressively working to attack modern problems like the opioid epidemic, domestic terrorism, and firefighter cancers that have fundamentally changed the way we operate on emergency calls. Our Department has stepped up to meet all the safety and lifesaving needs of our growing, active city. We are more than a “fire department.” We are proud to serve the West Palm Beach community.
