WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (October 26, 2020) — West Palm Beach City Administrator Faye Johnson recently received the Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Ms. Johnson is one of over 1,300 local government management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.

ICMA’s mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics and by increasing the proficiency of appointed chief administrative officers, assistant administrators, and other employees who serve local governments and regional entities around the world. The organization’s 13,000 members in 27 countries also include educators, students, and other local government employees.
To receive the prestigious ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government; have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development.
City Administrator Johnson has more than 33 years of diversified municipal experience including 13 years in county government administration, 17 years in city government operations, and three years of formal city management training. Prior to her appointment in January as City Administrator, she served as Assistant City Administrator for the City of West Palm Beach.
Ms. Johnson’s prior extensive experience also includes serving as Assistant County Administrator for Palm Beach County, County Administrator for St. Lucie County, and Deputy Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of Fort Lauderdale. Early in her career, Ms. Johnson worked for the City of West Palm Beach as Director of Housing and Community Development.
She has also made significant contributions to numerous other organizations. She has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Florida City-County Management Association, National Forum for Black Public Administrators, and currently serves on the board of Leadership Palm Beach County. She is the recipient of the International City Management Association 2011 Strategic Leadership Award and was named the American City-County Magazine 2011 County Leader of the Year.
Ms. Johnson holds a Master of Public Administration from Howard University and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Bethune-Cookman College.
