WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (July 13, 2020) – The City of West Palm Beach continues working to ensure residents can access free COVID-19 testing by hosting pop-up, mobile testing events throughout the City. To date, approximately 1500 residents have been tested for COVID-19 at one of more than a dozen, pop-up testing events in the City facilitated by the West Palm Beach Fire Department (WPBFD).

These events supplement the testing being conducted by the Florida Department of Health and Palm Beach County at the FitTeam Ballpark of the Palm Beaches testing site and at their other testing locations.
The pop-up, mobile testing in the City is the vision of West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James who sought to connect residents, who might be unable to travel to the FitTeam site including people of color, with access to testing.
“Pop-up, mobile testing is key to preventing the spread of COVID-19 and keeping residents and their families safe, healthy, and secure,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “We are doing our part to help ensure access to testing. I invite and encourage residents to be tested for COVID-19 should a mobile testing event be in your neighborhood. By working together, we can and will overcome COVID-19.”
Last Thursday, WPBFD and the Health Care District of Palm Beach County teamed up to host a free mobile testing event in the parking lot of Fire Station #5, located at 700 North Congress Avenue. There, 203 residents were tested for COVID-19.
“This testing, along with social distancing and other virus mitigation measures, will help lessen the continuing impact of COVID-19 on city residents,” said West Palm Beach Fire Chief Diana Matty.
To schedule COVID-19 testing, call the Health Care District of Palm Beach County testing hotline at (561) 642-1000.
In the event of an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
