West Palm Beach Joins Charge@Work, a National Program Growing Electric Vehicle Charging at Workplaces
WEST PALM BEACH, FL — In his continuing commitment and support of workers and clean transportation access in the workplace, Mayor Keith A. James has signed the Charge@Work pledge to grow electric vehicle (EV) charging in the workplaces.
“This pledge reflects our mission to provide an environmentally sustainable infrastructure that benefits our employees, residents, and visitors,” said Keith A. James, Mayor of The City of West Palm Beach. “We’re working to provide our workers access to a cleaner commute. West Palm Beach leads in innovation and amenities that support better retention of happier, more productive employees”.
Charge@Work, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, helps government and private employers plan, and implement EV charging programs in the workplace. Workplaces of all types are encouraged to learn more about the Charge@Work program by registering at https://chargeatwork.org where EV charging experts will deliver planning, programming, and technical resources to participating employers. Charge@Work is administered by clean transportation accelerators CALSTART and Forth with support from EVNoire.
Mayor James and the West Palm Beach Office of Sustainability are dedicated to expanding the availability of EV charging stations and alleviating barriers to workplaces wishing to install EV charging stations. Another aspect of this commitment is providing workers with educational materials on electric transportation, developing transportation electrification plans, hosting EV test drives, and informational events. The City of West Palm Beach currently has 38 City-owned EV charging stations available in three downtown parking garages and hosts an annual National Drive Electric event.
This national EV charging program aligns with the mission to enhance the viability of West Palm Beach as a model of a healthy, environmentally progressive, resilient, and ecologically sustainable community. The City of West Palm Beach will benefit from cleaner air and environment through reduced emissions, lower car maintenance expenses, and increased worker satisfaction.
Charge@Work is designed to bring electric vehicle (EV) charging to American workers nationwide. By delivering better access to EV charging for workers, together, we can support cleaner air and a healthier environment, greater local energy independence, and responsible community stewardship.
