West Palm Beach City Commission Meeting Approvals and Decisions

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (DATE) – Below is a summary of the approvals and decisions made by the Mayor and City Commission meeting on Monday, November 27, 2023.

CITY ATTORNEY –
Approved a resolution assessing City liens for unpaid water service, sewer service and storm water charges for the month of August 2023; approved an ordinance after first public hearing amending the definition of special event to specifically include large group feeding, adding a time to process a large group feeding special event application, providing for waiver of the permit application fee and making other minor modifications.

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES – Approved an ordinance after second public hearing amending the Downtown Master Plan Urban regulations to provide new language and text cleanups to the definitions, signage requirements and the North Railroad Avenue (NoRA) subdistrict requirements; approved an ordinance after second reading amending Chapter 78, Streets, Sidewalks and Public Spaces, Article XVIII: Parklets, and approved a resolution amending the Comprehensive Fee Schedule for Parklet permits; approved an ordinance after second public hearing to amend the Future Land User Map to change the Future Land Use designation for a parcel on the Southeast corner of South Dixie Highway and Belvedere Road from Commercial to Commercial East; approved an ordinance after first public hearing designating the Locust House, 1225 North Sapodilla Avenue on the West Palm Beach Register of Historic Places.

ENGINEERING – Approved an ordinance after second public hearing granting an Aerial Pedestrian Bridge easement to KJWPB1, LLC, across Eucalyptus Street between 740 and 840 North Dixie Highway.

FINANCE – Approved a resolution amending the General Capital Acquisition and Fleet Replacement Fund budgets, recognizing cash carryforward, and providing appropriations for various City needs.

FIRE DEPARTMENT – Approved a resolution approving the receipt and appropriation of funds from the interlocal agreement with Palm Beach County for up to $38,687 for reimbursement of fire medical equipment.

PARKS and RECREATION – Approved a resolution authorizing the new gymnasium in Coleman Park at 1116 21st Street to be named the Paul G. Blackshear Gymnasium.

POLICE DEPARTMENT – Approved two resolutions approving an interlocal agreement with Palm Beach County for on-water law enforcement for manatee protection, and a second resolution appropriating up to $16,660 for reimbursement of on-water law enforcement for manatee protection.

PROCUREMENT – Deleted from the agenda, an appeal by Prolime Corporation of the denial of a bid protest in the award of a contract (Invitation to Bid 22-23-155 DL) to Devland Site Paving and Utilities, Inc., for Lime Sludge Hauling Services from the City’s Water Treatment Plant.

PUBLIC UTILITIES – Approved a resolution approving an interlocal agreement between the City and Downtown Development Authority for installation of eight trees within the downtown area to promote revitalization of the area.
