WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (February 22, 2022) –Mayor Keith A. James has proclaimed March 7 – 11, 2022 as Bike to Work Week and March 2022 as Florida Bicycle Month in the City of West Palm Beach. These observances aim to elevate bicycling as a more widely accepted choice of transportation and promote an environmentally-friendly transport practice. With its partners, the city will host the following activities in observance of Bike to Work Week and Florida Bicycle Month.
Bike Fix-It Station
What: Free giveaways and bicycle check-ups will be offered at this pop-up bicycle repair station, courtesy of the City of West Palm Beach and its partners.
Where: 200 block of South Tamarind Ave., south of Banyan Blvd.
When: Monday, March 7, 2022 (3:30 – 6:30 p.m.)
Bike to Work Day (Group Bicycle Ride)
What: Join us for a Bike to Work Day celebration to culminate the week’s festivities, which includes a group bicycle ride through beautiful downtown West Palm Beach. If unable to join the group ride, celebrants are welcome to follow the route at their convenience.
Where: Group ride will depart from the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA), 301 Datura St., and end at City Hall, 401 Clematis Street. Greater celebration to be held in the City Center Courtyard at City Hall.
When: Friday, March 11, 2022. 7:30 – 9:30 a.m.: Bike to Work Day celebration. 8 a.m.: Group ride departure from TPA office
The City of West Palm Beach also invites residents to participate in the month-long Love to Ride challenge in March. The statewide initiative encourages everyone to ride their bike as a means of fitness and leisure. Interested individuals can register here.
Bike to Work Week is a collaboration between the city’s Office of Sustainability and Planning Department, as well as BrightBike, the Downtown Development Authority, Palm Tran, Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency, South Florida Commuter Services and Tri Rail.
