WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (June 18, 2021) – The City of West Palm Beach has partnered with Lyft and Nonprofits First to support access to free and discounted rides to and from COVID-19 vaccination sites in communities in need. This initiative is critically important to the health and wellbeing of our community and supports equitable access to the vaccine.

Lyft has provided access to ride codes with a value of up to $25 each to travel to and from COVID-19 vaccination appointments. The effort is part of the company’s Vaccine Access Program that is mobilizing a coalition of partners to provide access to rides to and from vaccination sites across the country. Ride codes will be distributed by local non-profits and are valid through June 30, 2021. To receive a Lyft code to apply to a ride to and from a COVID-19 vaccination site, contact one of these non-profits:

  • 211-- (561) 533-1065
  • Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies-- (561) 665-4525
  • PBC Medical Society-- (561) 433-3940
  • Vita Nova-- (561) 427-3996
  • Meals on Wheels-- (561) 802-6979

“There are many people in our community who do not have access to the COVID-19 vaccine because they do not have a car or are unable to get a ride,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “This unique partnership between the City of West Palm Beach, Lyft and Nonprofits First aims to bridge that gap by providing access to free rides to COVID-19 vaccine appointments for our most vulnerable residents. Working together, this initiative advances equitable access to the vaccine for West Palm Beach residents. We are grateful to Lyft and Nonprofits First for their partnership, which will help improve the health and wellbeing of our residents.”

“Access to reliable transportation represents a major barrier to care for millions of Americans across the country, especially for vulnerable communities,” said Melvin Sanders, Southeast Regional Director at Lyft. “The strength of all of our partners, including the City of West Palm Beach and Nonprofits First, combined with our ability to address transportation barriers enables us to support equitable vaccine access for those who need it most.”

“Nonprofits First is absolutely thrilled to be able to partner with Lyft and the City of West Palm Beach to offer this program to the nonprofit community and to their clients in need,” said Nonprofits First CEO Jessica Cecere.

Nonprofit organizations which would like to distribute ride codes should contact Dawn Wilson of Nonprofits First by phone at (561) 214-9082 or by email at dwilson@nonprofitsfirst.org.
