WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (February 3, 2021) - Nights on Clematis Street will soon be a bit brighter thanks to new programming at the newly renovated Centennial Fountain at the Nancy M. Graham Centennial Square, located at 150 North Clematis Street. The City of West Palm Beach's launch of "Clematis by Light" starts with the "Love Our CommUNITY" show on Thursday, February 11, 2021 – just in time for Valentine's Day. The nighttime attraction runs from 6 – 10 p.m. every Thursday through Sunday, plus Presidents Day, through March 11. The show will include a waterworks spectacle set to synchronized light and music shows.
Love Our CommUNITY is the first in a series of new programming for the upgraded fountain, which debuted in December 2020. As part of the city’s Holiday in Paradise celebration, the fountain displayed light and music shows synchronized with the star of season, Sandi.
"The renovated Centennial Fountain is now both an attraction and destination, adding to the vibrancy, economic development, and sense of community in our downtown,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. "I hope everyone has an opportunity to safely experience the renovated fountain at Love Our CommUNITY. We look forward to future opportunities of incorporating the Centennial Fountain into our regular and special event programming."
In addition to the love-themed music and brightly colored water bursts, interactive multi-colored lights on nearby palm trees will be included in the synchronized show. In the months following, the city plans to host additional fountain programs to honor the U.S. military and show patriotism.
"Through Sandi Land, West Palm Beach has become known for one of the most dynamic light and music shows around," said Mary Pinak, community events manager for the City of West Palm Beach's Department of Parks and Recreation. "We are pleased to now be able to provide an element of those shows more regularly through our newly renovated fountain. The fountain is a great complement to our award-winning programming, but also as a stand-alone feature."
Due to COVID-19 and in accordance with national, statewide, and local safety guidance, the city encourages everyone to follow all CDC guidelines. City staff will monitor and encourage social distancing, sanitize high touch areas, and provide hand-sanitizing stations throughout the venue.
The Centennial Square Fountain is located at the east end of Clematis Street, just west of Flagler Drive (150 North Clematis street). Parking is available in City of West Palm Beach garages. City garages are Clematis, Banyan, City Center, Sapodilla, and Evernia, with Banyan and Evernia being the two closest garages. Those interested in arriving by boat can also take advantage of the City's free public docks. The Clematis Street dock is closest to the event.
