West Palm Beach Police Dept. Holiday Safety Tips

Post Date:11/24/2020

West Palm Beach, FL (November 24, 2020)—Chief Frank Adderley and the City of West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) would like to remind the public how to be extra vigilant and avoid becoming a victim this holiday season. The most common crimes during this season are:

  • Auto burglaries
  • Porch thefts/general theft
  • Robberies

Keep porch pirates at bay by scheduling deliveries for when you are home or purchase a porch lock box for deliveries. If you cannot arrange for a neighbor to collect packages in your absence, consider having packages delivered to your workplace.

When parking your vehicle, always park in a well-lit area. Never leave valuables in your vehicle, take your belongings with you, lock your vehicle and call 9-1-1 if you see something suspicious.

While shopping, never leave your purse or valuables in an unattended shopping cart. Items in shopping carts are easy pickings for any thief—even an unskilled one. Be aware of your surroundings and follow your instincts. If it does not feel right, call police.

*This holiday season, WPBPD will have additional patrols and unmarked vehicles conducting surveillance at local shopping centers.
