What does it take to find a job in today’s market? It isn’t easy, and it's often discouraging to pan over job listings, send out resumes, and go on interview after interview to land the perfect job. What could you be doing differently and where should you start?
Finding a job is challenging under the best of circumstances. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic presented the worst of circumstances, leaving many without a compass to navigate our rapidly-changing economy. The library is here to help you succeed with several available resources.
Over the summer, our Square One Career Services underwent some dramatic changes with the goal of expanding programs and initiatives to better serve the community. As the new Square One coordinator, I am here to help you build a resume, prepare a cover letter, and introduce you to workshops and resources to guide you through the process.
Life Support Tuesdays: Stop by for assistance applying for unemployment, building a resume, or applying for a job.
Workday Wednesdays: Through our partnership with CareerSource, we now provide an on-site career consultant every Wednesday from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, no appointments necessary. Nancy Medina is a skilled professional who can help you navigate the online application process through Employ Florida.
Career Readiness Thursdays: Schedule an appointment to have your resume professionally critiqued by Career Coach Kathy Shabotinskyj.
“Get That Job” Workshops: Register early for this popular, full-day workshop with career consultant Angela Wing-Allen that covers all the basics from resumes, job-markets, interviewing skills, and more. Who says there’s no such thing as a free lunch? Participants will receive a free lunch voucher and a flash drive to store important job search documents.

We are here to help you, so please check the calendar monthly for special Career Ready Series that will introduce you to essential goal-setting strategies, time management skills, creating an appropriate presence on social media, meeting employer expectations, negotiating with others, and establishing a budget for life. Look for additional classes and workshops in Microsoft Word, Excel, resume writing, and interviewing, as well as upcoming all-day and half-day workshops with CareerSource and Get that Job.
