Suspect Cemari Daniels
A Riviera Beach man has been charged in the murder of a West Palm Beach teen and the shooting of another.
Just after 9 p.m. December 8, 2021, police responded to a shooting in the 900 block of Grant Street at an apartment complex. Officers found one man dead in the parking lot of the complex, and another wounded in the 800 block of Adams Street, about a block from the apartments.
Investigators have determined that the suspect, Cemari Dee Daniels, 20 (D/O/B 6/1/02), of 2820 Avenue S 9, Riviera Beach, was sitting in the front passenger seat of a stolen 2017 Ford Expedition with the two victims in the back seat. Daniels got out of the SUV and went to the opposite side and opened the rear passenger door and attempted to rob the 17-year-old victim of his handgun when he shot both the 17-year-old and then 16-year-old surviving victim. Both of the victims’ were from West Palm Beach and their names are being withheld under Marsy’s Law.
The 17-year-old victim collapsed in the apartment complex parking lot and the 16-year-old victim fled to the Adams Street address where he was met by police.
Through an extensive investigation that included forensic evidence including DNA, Daniels was positively identified as the shooter. He was arrested October 12, 2022 and is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office West Detention Center. Daniels has been charged with murder and aggravated battery.
