Mission: Enhance the viability of West Palm Beach as a model of a healthy, equitable, environmentally progressive, resilient, and ecologically sustainable community.

The City of West Palm Beach has been committed to sustainability targeting climate change for over a decade. We were one of the first cities in the State of Florida to have a dedicated office addressing climate change, sustainability and resiliency issues. The Office of Sustainability collaborates with various city agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses and private citizens, among other partners, to enhance the viability of the municipality as a model of healthy, equitable, environmentally progressive, resilient and ecologically sustainable, urban living.  We are committed to continue to evolve to meet our City’s / region’s environmental challenges focused on exceeding our community’s expectations.

Kiss the Ground Free Film Screening

  • Date: -

Join the City of West Palm Beach Office of Sustainability and Mandel Public Library for a free screening of Kiss The Ground, a powerful film that demonstrates how our relationship to food and farming directly impacts the planet as a whole. When we're farming right, we can regenerate our soil, build community, strengthen local economies, promote biodiversity, restore ecosystems, fight climate change, and heal our bodies.

Narrated and featuring Woody Harrelson, Kiss the Ground is an inspiring and groundbreaking film that reveals the first viable solution to our climate crisis.

Kiss the Ground reveals that, by regenerating the world’s soils, we can completely and rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems and create abundant food supplies. Using compelling graphics and visuals, along with striking NASA and NOAA footage, the film artfully illustrates how, by drawing down atmospheric carbon, soil is the missing piece of the climate puzzle.

This movie is positioned to catalyze a movement to accomplish the impossible – to solve humanity’s greatest challenge, to balance the climate and secure our species future.

Watch the film on your own starting on January 28th and then join us for a special Q&A with the City of West Palm Beach Office of Sustainability, co-owner, Operations Manager and CFO for the Bedner Family of Companies, Marie Bedner, and NCAT's Sustainable Agriculture Specialist, Nina Prater, on January 30th at 10am. The Vimeo link (for the film) and the Zoom link (for the Q&A) will be emailed to you after your registration is complete.
