The City of West Palm Beach and the Martin Luther King Jr. Coordinating Committee prepare for Martin Luther King Events

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The Mayor’s Office and the Martin Luther King Jr. Coordinating Committee have partnered to prepare the Martin Luther King Jr. Landmark Memorial for the many organized events scheduled to begin Friday, Jan. 5, 2024.

Ms. Edith C. Bush, one of the founding members of the MLK Coordinating Committee, and the executive director states that “The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park is considered one of the largest memorials commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Southern United States.”  Further, the memorial stands “to serve as an educational site for students of all ages to learn about Dr. King’s life and his teachings of non-violence, tolerance of diversity, and love of all mankind.”

“The MLK Memorial serves to honor the legacy of Dr. King’s dream of equality, and dignity for all regardless of your race, states Mayor Keith A. James.  Additionally, “The City is preparing our great memorial for the many events planned by MLK Coordinating Committee, we are here to support their efforts.”

In preparation for the many activities planned the MLK Memorial will be temporarily fenced and closed to the public from Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, to Friday, Jan. 5, 2024.
