WPB to Observe National Public Works Week, Honor Public Works Employees

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (MAY 12, 2020) -- The City of West Palm Beach will observe National Public Works Week from May 17 - 23, 2020, as proclaimed by Mayor Keith A. James during a City Commission meeting on May 4, 2020. Mayor James encourages citizens to pay tribute to City public works professionals, engineers, managers, and employees and to recognize their substantial contributions to our community’s sustainability and resiliency.

“By focusing on infrastructure, facilities and services, City public works professionals are vital to the public health and well-being of our residents,” said West Palm Beach Mayor James. “I am grateful to our public works employees for their work each and every day, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Residents who wish to support public works employees can download, color and hang a small but visible poster of appreciation for public works employees. Colored green and hung inside a window, the coloring page will be seen by public works employees on their pickup routes. The City’s Department of Public Works manages the following services along 513.7 lane miles of City streets and oversees these services:

  • Solid Waste Collection,
  • Street Sweeping,
  • Street Light Maintenance,
  • Sidewalk Maintenance,
  • Street Sign Installation and Upkeep, and
  • Pothole and Paver Repair.
