Southern Boulevard Bridge Opening & Temporary Flagler Drive Closure Announced by FDOT

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (August 25, 2022) – The Florida Department of Transportation has informed the City of West Palm Beach of FDOT’s intent to open the new Southern Boulevard bridge at the Intracoastal Waterway to traffic on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 6:00 a.m. Police will assist eastbound motorists approaching the bridge in West Palm Beach as traffic signals on Southern Boulevard between Washington Road and Flagler Drive are modified. The opening is the conclusion of the Southern Boulevard (State Road 80) Bridge Replacement Project.

 
Southern Boulevard Bascule Bridge

FDOT has informed the City of that Flagler Drive, between Southern Boulevard and Monroe Drive, will be closed through the end of 2022 for reconstruction. Access to local traffic will be maintained. Detours:

• Northbound motorists should use Southern Boulevard to Washington Road and north on Washington Road to Monroe Drive east for resident access to Flagler Drive.
• Southbound motorists should use Monroe Drive west from Flagler Drive to Washington Road and south on Washington Road to Southern Boulevard.
