PETA: West Palm Beach Among Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Beach Towns in U.S.

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (August 15, 2022) – Some of the best plant-based food and animal-friendly fare in the country can be found in the City of West Palm Beach. The City was recently recognized as one of 2022’s top 10 vegan-friendly beach towns in the U.S. for vegans and plant-based diners by the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

In announcing this recognition, PETA cited the city’s provision of “delicious and healthy vegan options” to residents and tourists. The organization noted the West Palm Beach restaurants PLANTA, La Chia Vegana, and Darbster.

“It is a terrific honor for West Palm Beach to be recognized for its offerings of vegan and plant-based cuisine. We are appreciative to the People for Ethnical Treatment of Animals for the distinction as one of the top 10 vegan-friendly beach towns in the nation,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James.

In a letter to Mayor James, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk wrote, “Residents and tourists certainly appreciate delicious and hearty vegan fare, and of course, serving vegan food spares animals the suffering that they would otherwise endure on factory farms, during transport, and in slaughterhouses.”

In honor and appreciation of the achievement, PETA awarded the City a framed certificate. Other locations that made PETA’s list are San Diego, CA; Charleston, SC; Santa Cruz, CA; Atlantic City, NJ; Nags Head, NC; Long Beach, NY; Grand Haven, MI; Galveston, TX; Newport and Middletown, RI.

Founded in 1980, PETA is a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing and defending the rights of animals. Click here to learn more.
