Congratulations to This Year's Hometown Hero!

Kate Arrizza, president and CEO of the Cox Science Center and Aquarium, was named the 2022 Hometown Hero at this year's 4th on Flagler celebration. She is a United States Navy veteran and continues to give back to the community in which she grew up.

 

Sales Tax Holiday Set for July 25 - August 7

During Florida's back-to-school sales tax holiday, tax is not collected on the retail sales of clothing, school supplies or learning aids, computers and more, with certain limitations.

 

Free Tree Giveaway Set for July 30 at Dreher Park

Residents and business owners are invited to receive up to two free trees, while supplies last, at this drive-thru event. Registration is required. Applications will close on July 25 or when the event reaches capacity.

 

National Black Business Month Mixer on August 4

This event will celebrate black-owned businesses and create a space for new connections within the business community. A fireside chat will feature Siebert Williams Shank & Co. Chair Christopher J. Williams.

 

'Closing the Gap' on Black Homeownership

The City has teamed up with the Florida Housing Coalition as part of its "Closing the Gap" program. This campaign focuses on decreasing the racial gap in homeownership by revealing historical patterns of discrimination.

Did you know the City broadcasts and streams many public meetings? See what's coming up with our new broadcast guide!

 

Calling Local Artists: Application Open for Public Art Initiative

The City’s ArtLife Committee will select 10 local artists for The Commons Project. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

 

Community Redevelopment Agency Events

All events will be held at Heart and Soul Park, 825 N Rosemary Avenue

Historic Northwest Community Meeting (Thursday, July 28, 6 p.m.) - CRA staff will provide updates on public safety and projects happening throughout your neighborhood.

Arts in the Park (Saturday, August 13, 2 - 6 p.m.) -You're invited to enjoy an afternoon of art and entertainment at Heart & Soul Park! Meet local artists and enjoy live painting demos, arts and crafts, food trucks and more!

Movie Night in the Park (August 19, Event opens at 5:30 p.m., Movie begins at sunset) - Enjoy a movie night with your friends and family at this evening screening of Disney Pixar's "Soul." Free popcorn will be provided, and refreshments will be available for purchase from on-site food trucks. Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy the show!

City Commission Meeting on Monday, July 25

Commission meetings are held every other Monday at City Hall, 401 Clematis St. The public is encouraged to attend.

 

Featured Job: Public Works Maintenance Supervisor

Under limited direction, this position oversees reporting supervisors, team leaders or workers in the maintenance of the City’s streets, sidewalks, and all areas within the right of ways. Also performs other duties as assigned.

 

2022 Chlorine Switch In Effect Through July 27

The Department of Public Utilities is conducting a temporary switch from the current Chloramine disinfection to Free Chlorine disinfection of its water distribution through July 27, 2022. This is an annually-required, preventative maintenance process to help ensure quality and safety standards for your drinking water are maintained.
