
West Palm Beach City Commission, Special Community Redevelopment Agency Approvals and Decisions
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (06-28-2022) – Below is a summary of some of the approvals and decisions made by the City Commission during the City Commission and Special Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meetings on Monday, June 27, 2022.
CITY ATTORNEY – Approved on first reading an ordinance to amend the ground lease and operating agreement with West Palm Golf Community Trust; approved an administrative change moving Article V (rental dwelling units) from City Code Chapter 18 to Chapter 22; approved on second reading amendments to landlord-tenant leases and rental increases ordinance.
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES – Approved, on first reading, an ordinance to bring the City Code in line with a new state law regulating “home occupations” and “home businesses;” approved, on first reading, a change in the zoning code that allows for demolition of buildings in the Coleman Park overlay district without the property owner first obtaining a building permit.
FIRE DEPARTMENT – Presented commemorative badges to 22 West Palm Beach firefighters who worked on the Champlain Towers condominium collapse rescue efforts in 2021.
PARKS & RECREATION – Proclaimed July as Parks & Recreation Month; approved resolution to apply for two grants from the Florida Department of Education for Early Learning programs at South Olive Community Center and Gaines Park Community Center; approved the design improvements for Currie Park; approved street plantings for 57th Street and 58th Street.
UTILITIES – Approved an appropriation of $557,053 from the Water and Sewer System Revenue Fund Contingency budget for legal and engineering services related to State Road 7.

Below are the actions taken by the City Commission seated as the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
Selected Vita, LLC as the contractor of choice to manage the revival of the Sunset Lounge and to begin negotiations on a contract to operate the historic facility.
