The Commons: 15 Artists 15 Spaces Presented at Norton Museum of Art’s “Art After Dark” Friday, April 1st

WHAT:

The Norton Museum of Art and the City of West Palm Beach, through its ArtLife WPB program, have partnered to host a screening and panel discussion of The Commons: 15 Artists 15 Spaces, a documentary about the city’s Covid-19 Artists Relief Initiative. Selected artists featured in the documentary will lead a colorful open studio and art tour. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. Space is limited for some activities. WHEN:

Friday, April 1, 2022 5 – 10 p.m.

  • 5:30 – 6 p.m. (Tour): Led by one the museum’s docents, attendees will learn more about the great works in the Norton Museum of Art’s collection.
  • 6 – 7 p.m. (Screening/Panel Discussion on The Commons: 15 Artists 15 Spaces): In the earlier stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of West Palm Beach’s ArtLife WPB Committee commissioned 15 local artists to create temporary works that bring to light our community’s need to reconnect with one another during the shutdown. One of the artists was asked to create a short documentary that would play a vital role in producing a shared cultural memory of the global health crisis.
  • 6 – 9 p.m. (Open Studio): Join Nicole Galluccio, artist featured in The Commons: 15 Artists 15 Spaces,for a drop-in style art session. This program is open to all ages and experience levels. Materials are included.
  • 7 – 8:30 p.m. (Jazz Friday): Guests are invited to a performance by Charles Goold, who combines traditional Haitian and Afro-Caribbean rhythms with hard bop, modern jazz, and hip hop.
  • 7:30 – 8 p.m. (Tour): Led by one the museum’s docents, attendees will learn more about the great works in the Norton Museum of Art’s collection.
  • 8 – 8:30 p.m. (Artist Tour): Join artist Gregory Dirr, artist featured in The Commons: 15 Artists 15 Spaces, for an informal gallery talk about works in the Norton Museum of Art’s collection and special exhibitions.
