WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (February 8, 2022) – Laying the foundation for future investment, development and economic advancement in an area long overlooked for opportunities, the City of West Palm Beach has approved regulatory changes to the Downtown Master Plan to create the Nora District in the city’s north end. The regulatory changes could result in the most significant and transformative investment in the north end’s history.

The regulation changes allow for additional development capacity, while preserving the character of the district’s residential and industrial properties. Plans for the site could now include mixed-use properties, additional residential units, enhanced public spaces, and dining and retail establishments. The Nora District spans 40+ acres and comprises the area between Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and North Quadrille Boulevard, North Dixie Highway and the Florida East Coast Railway.

The city crafted the vision for the district in collaboration with local development partners NDT Development and Place Projects. Input from area residents, business owners and developers was considered in the creation of the final regulations, which were unanimously approved by the city commission on February 7, 2021.

“The regulatory changes creating the Nora District will attract economic development to the area, which will breathe new life into this neighborhood, enhance our city’s vibrancy, and create even more opportunities for residents and business owners of the district,” said Mayor James. “As there is tremendous interest and investment in West Palm Beach, I am committed to ensuring residents of all neighborhoods will benefit. I am excited by what the future holds for Nora District residents and business owners.”
