City of West Palm Beach Conducts Training Exercise, Post Hurricane Simulation to Practice Hurricane Recovery Procedures

WHO:                   City of West Palm Beach Department of Public Works
                             City of West Palm Beach Department of Parks and Recreation

 

WHAT:                 In preparation for Hurricane Season, the City of West Palm Beach will conduct a training exercise and post-hurricane simulation for the City’s Department of Public Works and Department of Parks and Recreation to practice hurricane recovery procedures. Should a major weather event impact our City, these simulations are critical to ensure a prompt recovery that prioritizes the public’s safety.  

                             The City of West Palm Beach trains for hurricanes and disasters year-round to ensure our City is prepared, and this training is one of many exercises that take place throughout the year.

                             City of West Palm Beach Emergency Manager Asst. Chief Brent Bloomfield will be on-site to speak to the media about the importance of preparing for hurricane season. Department of Public Works Director Josh McDermott will be available to speak about the exercise. The Atlantic Hurricane season occurs from June 1 - November 30, 2023.
