WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (March 3, 2022) – West Palm Beach water customers can pledge to save water in return for a chance at winning $3,000 toward their home utility payments, water-saving fixtures, and other prizes in the Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation.

The friendly competition between U.S. cities challenges residents to conserve water, energy, and other natural resources on behalf of their city through a series of informative, easy-to-use pledges online. During the month of April, water customers can participate by pledging at mywaterpledge.com. Mayor James is joining mayors across the country in asking water customers to take part!

Cities compete in the following population categories: 5,000- 29,999 residents, 30,000-99,999 residents, 100,000-299,999 residents, 300,000-599,999 residents, and 600,000+ residents. Cities with the highest percentage of residents who participate in the challenge in their population category can win prizes. Plus, one charity from a winning city will receive a 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid to serve their community.

Saving water can minimize the effects of drought and water shortages, preserve our environment, and guard against rising costs. Water conservation can make water available for recreational purposes and helps build safe, beautiful communities.

To conserve water, visit the city’s Office of Sustainability webpage for tips or participate in their rain barrel and toilet voucher programs. To contact the office, call (561) 804-4994 (TTY: 800-955-8771) or email sustainability@wpb.org.

“The Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation raises awareness of the importance of water conservation in our city and across the globe,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “I encourage our water customers to learn more about ways to save water on the city’s website and take the pledge!”

The National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation is presented by the Wyland Foundation, with support from Toyota, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, WaterSense, The Toro Company, and The National League of Cities.
