CITY HALL ACTIONS

Social Distancing: At a special City Commission meeting on March 30, 2020, Mayor Keith A. James continues to urge the public to practice social distancing and to stay at home to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you are around other people, keep six feet between you when possible. Avoid hugs, handshakes, large gatherings, and close quarters. For more information, please visit: https://floridahealthcovid19.gov/prevention/.

Emergency Food Assistance Program: City Commissioners unanimously approved the allocation of an additional $18,000 to the COVID-19 Emergency Food Assistance Program. The allocation brings the total City funding for the program to $30,000. The program provides temporary food assistance to households impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The City will partner with existing food providers, volunteers, and non-profits to provide the funding to help provide prepared meals to City residents impacted by job loss and to low-income elderly. The intent is to also provide some restaurant workers with an opportunity for short-term employment. This program is meant to fill the assistance gaps until state and federal funds begin to be distributed locally.
